How can the NHS improve support for carers?

The Department of Health wants to learn more about the lives of those who give their time and energy to support friends or family members needing care. They want to hear from carers, those who have someone care for them, business, social workers, NHS staff and other professionals that support carers. They are developing a new strategy to set out what carers need; one which reflects their lives and the health and financial concerns they have about themselves, their families and those they care for.

Anyone can benefit from using online services

Public notice – please read

Locally, urgent and emergency care services are currently facing large numbers of patients attending Accident and Emergency (A&E) which can result in longer waiting times. Health leaders across the city are now asking people to take action and keep themselves and those that they care for well over the winter.
The best way you can do this is to:
 Seek immediate advice from a pharmacist as soon as you feel unwell
 Get your prescriptions and complete the course
 Keep warm as you prepare for colder weather
 Get your flu jab

"Brilliant"
"I have been with this Practice for over 60 years! from when it was just a room in a house on the Penn Road. They have always been brilliant. You can get appointments when you need then, you can talk to a Doctor or Nurse directly on the phone and ask them a question. I actually drive past a Doctor's Surgery close to my home in order to get to Penn Manor Medical Centre, but I wouldn't change Practices."
